CHARACTER DESIGN
A good chunk of my experience in the Kid and Family restaurant segment has been developing cool original characters. Below are just a few of the characters I've developed over the years—note the stylistic variety. Inspiration for these characters comes from pop culture (TV movies and cartoons), modern and traditional art and comic books, and of course, the brands themselves.
VIKTOR THE VIKING
In 2008, I was one of several illustrators at C3 who competed for the chance to create a licensed character for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings franchise. As it turned out, my design was chosen and I went on to design not only the character but his outfit, accessories and collateral, and I was involved in the creation of the costume itself. I created a style guide based on the character designs which was awarded a Silver ADDY at that year's competition, so that was a nice bonus.
