Bossa Nova, Monkey Style

This explains why so many monkeys from the 1950s and '60s suffer from emphysema

Ugly cousin of a Coelacanth

FOR GOD'S SAKE, THROW IT BACK!

I took the kids fishing yesterday, and even though they lost interest within minutes, I’m apparently still thinking about it, because I drew this repulsive fish-like…THING. Bleaggh.

The Angry Chair

Richard Scarry meets H.R. Giger. Makes my office chair seem really boring.

Not sure where this came from. Kind of a bizarre mutation of a Richard Scarry/Busytown pickle truck or pencil car (except that this one eats you).

King Cupcake

If anything positive came out of this ill-conceived, poorly managed and all-around cluster of a proposal, it’s that I brought King Cupcake to life. He was part of a whole world inhabited by sentient food. Kind of creepy? Maybe. But fun.

Surprising even myself

I did manage to get to a vector version, and I’m fairly pleased with the result. Should reproduce well and look good on a t-shirt; we used the same color scheme for my dear niece’s (award-winning!) shirt design for her Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation fundraising walk, and it was sharp on a white shirt, so I thought, why not?

Manga cat-girl—as close to furry culture as I'm willing to get

Robyn’s cousin Angie contacted me about a t-shirt design for the Chicago Rock ‘n Roll Half-Marathon, and this is what I came up with (the participants, all nurses, all apparently have kitty-cat nicknames. Or something). Eager to get to a vector version, if I ever have time…

In Brightest Day…

Yeah, so I’m a nerd. But also a nerd with three little ones at home, so I doubt I’ll be seeing the upcoming Green Lantern movie in the theater. Still, it’s on my mind (obviously). I sketched this out super-quick during a meeting; it made me think of Bruce Timm and how awesome that guy is.

If I had to designate a galactic protector, Ryan Reynolds likely would not make my top five. Zeus, the Human Wrecking Machine? Without question.

Spongeborg Squarepants

The presenter discussed the popularity of Spongebob across the kid age spectrum, so I took a few liberties. Who wouldn’t want to be assimilated by this sweet little guy? I did screw up the left hand and phaser, but what are you gonna do.

Resistance to my hilarious underwater capers is futile!

Atomic Knight

I don’t know why I was on a knight kick, but I went right from robots to this guy—both are made of metal, maybe that’s the connection. If not for the Thundarr-style energy sword, he would be almost plausible.
